At 11 years old, I began doing my own hair. I secretly was tired of my mothers hairstyles that I believed were baby-ish and wanted something older. In the kitchen I would formulate hot oil treatments, scalp massage oils, deep conditioners, rinses...you name it. My mother and grandma would laugh that I'd put the whole kitchen on my head because I had did so many DIY recipes.
